Hosting under Firewall
- Spoiler:
- First you must have Warcaft with PVPGN patch installed.
Then:
1. Go to > My Computer -> Control Panel
2. On Control Panel open Windows Firewall
Make sure that you allow incoming connections, check this
Block All Incoming Connections should NOT be ticked, or else you can't host.
3. You must have Windows Firewall set to ON.
4. Then press Add Port and select:
a) Port Name - at your own preference
b) Port Number: 6112
c) Port Type: TCP
The next step is doing the same thing, again, but at choice c), select UDP instead of TCP ( you must have both ports forwarded ).
Now, you're ready to host games on pldt server! Good luck!
Hosting under Specific Firewall (NOD, Kaspersky and others- Spoiler:
1) General overview
So you're trying to host a game and you already port forwarded your router and opened w3 ports in your windows firewall, but you still can't host? This means another software is still blocking incoming connections to your PC. Security systems such as Nod32 and Kaspersky Internet Security might be blocking w3 ports. In this guide I shall show you how to open ports 6112 TCP and UDP in both security systems.
2) Configuration
ESET Smart Security 3.0.669.0
NOD32 BUSINESS EDITION
1) Run warcraft, when the game is loaded completely, minimize it.
2) Right click on the NOD32 icon(In the system tray)
3) ' Show network connections '
4) When u do these steps, u will get a list of processes, where u can find war3.exe
5) right click on war3.exe proccess and click ' Allow communication for this proccess'
Note: you must do this every time you start warcraft in order to host.
Kaspersky Internet Security 2009
Kaspersky has its own powerful firewall. In order to host under Kaspersky, we must make w3l.exe a trusted application, and we must open the warcraft ports:
Making w3l.exe Trusted Application:
1) Enter Kaspershy main page, and click on Firewall under System Security
2) Enter Application Filtering Settings
3) You will now see a list of trusted, low restricted, high restricted and untrusted applications. Click Add on the lower left corner. Browse for w3l.exe and add it to the trusted applications
Opening the ports:
1) Return back to the Settings page and choose Firewall Settings
2) You will find list of opened and block ports, Click Add
3)Enter the following configuration to open the ports
4))Click Ok, notice the new ports added with a tick next to them. This means the ports are now open.
Comodo Firewall Pro
1) Enter Security > Application Monitor > Add
2) In the application Space add the link/location of the w3l.exe file, or the file u use to play warcraft.
Fill the following info:
Fill your IP address in the place of the Destination IP (For example: 192.168.0.3)Action: Allow
Protocol: TCP or UDP
Direction: In/Out
Fill ports 6112 - 6119 in the place of Destination Port
Note: Putting your IP adress and ports is not necessary in comodo. There is a preset "any" for both options.
BitDefender Total Security 2008
1) Go to Firewall > Traffic
2) Click Add
3) Select the path for the w3l.exe application, or the file u use to play warcraft.
4) Select Any protocol
5) Select Allow
Note: Some anti virus software don't block incoming connections(AVG, Avast...etc), in that case, you dont need to do anything.
Portforward your router- Spoiler:
- Solution 1:
1) Go to www.portforward.com
2) Select your router from the list
3) Skip advertisement by clicking "Skip this advertisement" in a right upper corner
4) Select Warcraft III
5) Follow simple steps for your router
Solution 2: (In case solution 1 did not work, this solution contains common steps that can be used by everyone)
1) General overview
What is port forwarding and why do you need it?
Port forwarding (sometimes referred to as tunneling or virtual servers) is the act of forwarding a network port from one network node to another. Port forwarding allows remote computers (e.g. public machines on the Internet) to connect to a specific computer within a private LAN. So in order to host a game online, you must allow public computers on the internet to connect to your computer. If you don't port forward, all incoming connections to your PC will be refused and thus no one will be able to join your game.
2) Requirements
Open cmd.exe (Start > All programs > Accessories > Command Prompt)
Type ipconfig, notice the Default Gateway.
NOTE: Enter Warcraft > Options > Game Play
Check your Game Port, it should be 6112.
3) Configuration
Open your web browser, type the IP you just saw, for example, in my case I have to type http://192.168.1.254
You should see a box prompting you for your username and password. Enter your password now. By default your username and password are admin.
You can find your router's username and password in your router's manual.
Click the Log in button to log in to your router.
ok, Now you must search for "Port Forward", "Virtual Server" or "Game & Application Sharing". They are usually located in the advanced settings of your router.
Some routers have Warcraft 3 in their database, so all you have to do is add the Warcraft 3 to the Applied Rules. If you don't have the game, create a new application with the following settingsProtocol: Any
Port Range: 6112 - 6119
Translate To: 6112 - 6119
Or if you don't have "Any" as a protocol type.Protocol: TCP
Port Range: 6112 - 6119
Translate To: 6112 - 6119
Protocol: UDP
Port Range: 6112 - 6119
Translate To: 6112 - 6119
4) Get information about your router
Visit http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm
Search for your router's exact model.
Search for Warcraft 3
Follow the instructions that are specifically made for your router in order to port forward.
